Special ‘Dragon’ Edition Ferrari 458 introduced in China

Ferrari-458-Italia-China-01

Ferrari has established itself in China for about 20 years now. Ferrari is celebrating this milestone with the production of 20 new Ferrari 458 ‘Dragon Edition’ in China. These cars were also designed specifically to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Dragon.

The design includes a golden dragon on the front bonnet which also has black livery stripes in it. Both the rims and aeroelastic winglets are painted golden. From the interior of the car you can see well designed golden emboridery on the head rests and some other parts. Another speciality regarding the car is that the engine start button is inscribed with simplified chinese charecters for “start”.

According to a press statement from Ferrari, the inspiration of the design for the livery came from:

“The inspiration behind the livery came from the longma theme which is an old Chinese idiom which means “the vigor and spirit of the legendary dragon-horse”… The soaring dragon and the prancing horse symbols reflect both Chinese culture as well as Ferrari’s constant innovation.”

This new edition shows the importance of the Chinese Nation for Italian car manufacturers. This is the second time Ferrari is creating an exclusive model for China after the porcelain-painted Ferrari 599 way back in 2009.
