It was May 12th 1912. Margaret Anderson – A woman who was managing a hotel at the site of what now is the Hollywood & Highland Center built the Beverly Hills Hotel with the help of architect Elmer Grey. She must not have known that the foundation she had laid at that time was actually paving way to become one of the most famous landmarks in the World’s history. It has been a century since the hotel’s inception, yet the class and elegance that the hotel always boasts about is still to be seen. It remains as one of the most swankiest destinations in Southern California.
The hotel which is home to the Academy & Grammy Awards was built for a sum estimated to be around USD $500,000 at that time. Two years after the hotel’s birth, the whole city of Beverly Hills was built around it. Hollywood legends starting from Charlie Chaplin, Cary Grant to John Lennon & Jack Nicholson are a part of the celebrities who have had made the hotel their prime habitats.
According to several sources, the hotel’s current worth is around a whopping USD $25 million! The hotel remain as a place where celebrities can take a break away from their busy schedule. The hotel is four storied and is surrounded by acres & acres of garden around it. In 1992, the hotel was closed down for a major renovation and was later opened again in 1995. As per the current statistics of the hotel, it consists of 200 rooms and suites and an additional 23 bungalows. The current rate of a night in hotel starts from USD $500 to an astonishing USD $15,000. It sure should be one brilliant hotel!
